The automotive industry is a revenue-intensive and knowledge-intensive industry worldwide, which plays a very important role in global economic development. In 2017, there were in total 73.4 million cars and 23.84 million trucks that were manufactured internationally. The annual revenue from automotive industry contributed roughly 3.65 percent of all GDP output in the world; and the share was even higher in developing countries, with rates in China and in India at 7 percent and continue rising.
